The 33rd Chinese Antarctic Research Expedition Team members safely returned

After successfully finishing various scientific investigation tasks, the 33rd Chinese Antarctic Research Expedition Team safely arrived in China on April 11th. Teacher HAO Weifeng, KONG Jian and Dr. XIAO Chi from CACSM came back with the scientific investigation team by Xuelong vessel. Dr. ZHANG Qingchuan will stay at Antarctic Zhongshan Station to continue performing the winter tasks.

During the scientific investigation, HAO Weifeng participated in the airborne geophysical observations aboard the Snow Eagle 601 Fixed-wing and data processing. He carried out the integrated geophysical observations in the core area of Princess Elizabeth based on Zhongshan Station; and conducted the comprehensive geophysical observations in the Shackleton Ice Shelf based on Casey station, including the measurement of 18 lines, with a total of 31880 km.

KONG Jian participated in the counterclockwise operations around the Antarctic Ocean aboard the Snow Dragon, including the CTD stations of the physical oceanography, geological sampling and geophysical operations around the Ross Sea.

XIAO Chi was responsible for maintaining the Zhongshan Station GNSS Observation System to ensure long-term stable operations, and maintaining the GIS System to ensure data acquisitions and uploading. In addition to the conventional observation tasks, he also finished a number of short-term observations, such as the zero point calibration of sea surface and the movement monitoring of the Dalk Glacier.
