The International Symposium on Polar Science and its Interaction with Global Environmental Change was held at Wuhan University as scheduled.
More than 110 experts and researchers engaged in polar research and relative fields from China and abroad attended the symposium.
The symposium is co-chaired by Academician Kim Holmen from Norway and Academician Gong Jianya from China.
After the opening session, Prof. Kim Homen gave a keynote presentation on Arctic perspectives in global change. Then Vice-director WU Jun gave his presentation on Introduction of China's Polar Program: Development, Progress and Prospect on behalf of Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration. Prof. LI Fei, Vice-president of Wuhan University and Director of Chinese Antarctic Center of Surveying and Mapping, also gave his presentation on Progress and prospect of polar surveying and mapping of CACSM.
In the following sessions, several famous experts with great achievements in polar research or global environmental change presented their latest scientific results respectively.
On the second day of the symposium, oral presentations were given in various groups and the attendees adequately exchanged their ideas with each other.
